no as longs there is a padlock at bottom of screen it is secure
don’t have a credit card so i am OK
Yes, I do but I only ever use secure websites.
No padlock – no pennies!
I just check my statements, have bought and sold on line for a couple of years now , i haven’t had any problem.
The worry will always be there but if you have a firewall installed and you know how to recognise a secure web page then i recon safety is not that big a concern.
I am pretty sure that my bank covers me against any such issues.
I avoid buying on line how do know some clever herbert has not forged a padlock to fool you I keep false details on my computer as well its better than none
yes, yes, yes!! my husband and i had our credit card # stolen last year by one of those fraud operations that send out counterfeit travelers checks and try to get people to cash them in. they opened a FedEx account in our names and charged over $1400 before we knew about it. it took weeks to get it all straightened out. he had been playing on-line poker
I do not worry about it, as there is risk involved in any transaction, whether it be on the internet or at a physical shop.
It is important, however, to only buy from recognised sources, preferably typing in the address manually.
I also sweep for viruses and spyware regularly.
Have a good firewall like zone alarm
and use websites like paypal.com or paisapay for ur online payments
these are the safest method
Never gave it a thought till 2 month ago. Opened the bank statement and there were 6 transactions made in US dollars on it. Phoned the bank and when they checked it was my husbands card that was used. Now this is the truth, my husband doesn’t know how to use his card it just sits in the drawer he cant even use an ATM I have to do all the money business and he doesn’t know how to switch a computer on anyway. The only time his card was used and I mean the only time was when I booked a holiday on line and used his card because my purse was in the car and I couldn’t be bothered going out for it. I use my card all the time on line so I could have understood if it was mine. We got all the money back by the next statement, we were lucky.
Always check to have a padlock in the statusbar, that means that the site has encryption and that it’s secure. Legal sites may start with https:// . Enable your anti phishing filter (it is activated and bundled with IE7 and Firefox), it protects you from fake sites that may steal your information. Finally check for keyloggers that may be installed on your computer by running an antivirus routine check and an antispyware normal check.
I stick to buying from the likes of Amazon or ticketmaster; and e-bay for other stuff. If you stick to secure sites, there shouldn’t be any problem
No I dont worry obout identity theft. my credit is so bad that if someone did steal it, they woud give it right back. As for my debit card , when they saw how much money I have they give it right back to
Go to the store for what you want. If someone needs to steal anothers information they ought to get a job and pay taxws like everyone else and stop bein a worthless maggott!
its not the small home user they`re after but the big companies
Most high street banks have a policy of refunding any money stolen through internet fraud so long as you can prove it and may need to make a police report. In clear cut cases they refund immediately. If in doubt they will make further investigations. Been doing it for 10 years now and never had a problem but I have left some sites when I noticed no padlock or felt things were not right.
Just been sensible should do afterall its safer on the internet than on the high street.
Lokk for the padlock and the web address will start with https instead of http the s stands for secure
I never buy online only with e-bay as you pay by postal order, anyone can get your credit card details and then take you to the cleaners.
